Shallow borehole

Shallow boreholes using compact drilling equipment

A solution for a shallow aquifer, installed without large excavations.

What is a shallow borehole?

A shallow borehole, known locally as a water needle, is a shallow groundwater abstraction solution suitable only where the required aquifer can be reached and local ground conditions allow it. We use compact drilling equipment. We do not use metal pipes driven into the ground: the system's construction and materials are selected for water abstraction according to the actual conditions of the plot.

How the work is carried out

We start by discussing the plot location, access, intended water use and available information about the ground or nearby water sources. A working location is chosen and the borehole is formed using compact equipment. Once a suitable aquifer is reached, the water intake section is installed, the system is flushed and water delivery is checked. The pump type is selected according to the water level, pipe route and expected demand.

When this solution is suitable

A shallow borehole can be practical for garden irrigation, utility use or a building's water supply where local geology is favourable. A result cannot reliably be promised based only on the plot address or the depth of a neighbour's well. The aquifer and its yield can vary even over a short distance, so final conclusions are made on site.

Water quality

Clear water is not necessarily safe to drink. If the water will be used for food preparation, we recommend laboratory microbiological and chemical testing. Only the results provide a sound basis for deciding whether filtration is needed and which technology is suitable. Filters should not be chosen solely on the basis of smell, colour or a seller's general promise.

Important: installation time, depth, yield and price depend on the specific ground conditions, aquifer, access and selected equipment. We confirm them only after assessing the property.

What to send

In the first enquiry, briefly describe how you intend to use the water and leave one contact method. You may give an approximate locality if you wish; the exact plot address is not needed at this stage. We can clarify access, the work area and any available information about soil or water when we contact you. If photos or test reports are needed, we will arrange their delivery separately—the general form does not accept files.

Property assessment

Describe your property – we will suggest a suitable solution

Briefly describe what you need and choose one contact method for a reply. If photos or other technical information are needed later, we will agree how to provide them when we get in touch.
