Ventilation replaces used indoor air with outdoor air. In a heat recovery system, some heat from the extracted air is transferred to the supply air. This helps reduce ventilation heat loss, but it does not make ventilation entirely free or a process that automatically heats the whole house. S17
A heat recovery unit and an air conditioner perform different tasks. A conventional air conditioner mainly controls indoor air temperature, while a ventilation system manages air exchange. One does not replace the other unless the specific system has additional functions designed for that purpose.
Customers should consider more than the heat recovery percentage. Rooms need appropriate air volumes, sensible duct layouts, noise control and filter access. Actual airflow rates need to be checked and adjusted after installation. S17, S18
The same heat recovery unit or system layout does not suit every building. The solution depends on the building, its design and the requirements that apply to it.
Before ordering: provide a floor plan, number of occupants and a possible unit location. Look for a proposal covering not only the heat recovery unit but the entire system, its adjustment and maintenance.
