The screen is the water entry zone of a water needle. Its role is to let water into the construction while limiting soil particle entry. It is not a substitute for a household water treatment filter. Dissolved contaminants and microorganisms are addressed separately. H02

In practice, distinguish three aspects of quality: mechanical strength, hydraulic operation and sanitary protection. A construction may be strong but poorly matched to the ground. It may supply water but have an unprotected upper assembly. One positive sign is not enough to assess the whole.

How should the screen be assessed?

A stainless label alone is not enough. Opening type, open area, pipe strength and connection to other parts matter. A construction intended for driving must withstand that installation method; an ordinary plastic screen does not become suitable for driving simply because it is attached to a strong pipe. T01

There is no universal mesh or slot size for every ground type. A justification based on the expected layer is better than a promise of the finest screen. An excessively fine or incorrectly installed intake is not automatically an advantage. A random homemade screen recipe should not replace this selection. T11

Which pipes are suitable?

The material must suit the intended use, loads and installation method. A pipe suitable for lowering into a prepared hole may not suit driving. For drinking water, documented requirements for water contact and compatible components matter, not just material colour or the seller's word.

When comparing quotations, ask for the manufacturer, material marking and connection method. Claims that metal is always best or plastic never causes problems ignore the construction's purpose. Maintenance and possible replacement also need planning in advance.

Why is suction tightness so important?

A leaking joint on the suction side can admit air even when no water visibly drips from it. A visually dry joint therefore does not necessarily prove a sealed system. Practical water needle installation guidance identifies tightness as essential for surface pumping. R01

Sealing materials must suit the joint, water and operating conditions. Do not choose any silicone arbitrarily or keep tightening until a part deforms. Checks need to suit the equipment and construction, not simply use greater force.

Upper section and maintenance

Connections, valves, measurement points and protection must be accessible for maintenance. Hiding an assembly as deep as possible is not enough. A flood-prone pit can cause contamination and maintenance problems; foreign institutional guidance explicitly highlights this risk. It is not a specific Lithuanian installation layout, but an important safety principle. T09

In an enquiry to Santechnikas iš Žemaitijos, discuss the pipe route to the house as well as the water needle. Who will isolate equipment for repairs? Where can a sample be taken? How will pressure be checked? These questions help create a maintainable system, not just a hidden pipe.
